Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars est un jeu d’aventure en pointer-cliquer de 1996, premier volet de la série Broken Sword, coécrit et réalisé par Charles Cecil et développé par Revolution Software. Le joueur incarne George Stobbart, un touriste américain à Paris doublé par Rolf Saxon, alors qu’il tente de démêler une profonde conspiration impliquant un culte sinistre et un trésor caché, ce qui le conduit à voyager dans divers lieux d’Europe et du Moyen-Orient. Le scénario du jeu a été conçu pour adopter un ton sérieux et a été fortement influencé par les recherches de Cecil sur les Templiers, mais il est aussi entremêlé d’humour et de graphismes dans le style des films d’animation classiques.
