Tyrian 2000 (1999)
Eclipse

Play

Tyrian 2000 is the 1999 enhanced re-release of the classic DOS vertical shooter Tyrian (1995). Developed by Eclipse and published by XSIV Games, it adds a fifth episode (“Hazudra Fodder”), bug fixes, and new ships/weapons, while its touted Windows support simply wraps the DOS executable via a PIF profile. Core play revolves around a robust shop and loadout system—tuning front/back primaries plus side pods, shields, and hull—alongside a more pickup-driven Arcade/Super Arcade experience and a festive Christmas mode that triggers in December. The story is set in the year 20,031: pilot Trent Hawkins flees to the free world of Savara after MicroSol’s drone murders his friend, uncovering a corporate conspiracy over the gravity-controlling mineral Gravitium.
