Continuando de onde o primeiro jogo parou, He Ran (何然), junto com o vigilante Yang Kunshuo (楊坤碩) e a jovem taumaturga Jiang Ruhong (江如紅), derrotou a temida encarnação do Flaming Phoenix (火鳳凰) (o monstro sinistro que sequestrou Jiang), fez amizade com um benevolente espírito de raposa, Gu Yuesheng (古月聖), e viajou de volta no tempo para encontrar os pais de He Ran. Eles buscaram acabar com o líder dos monstros invasores, conhecido como Wicked God (惡神), Bashe, e por fim enfrentaram o traiçoeiro Spirit of the Vessel.
