『キングズ・クエストVI』 は Sierra On‑Line が 1992 年 10 月 5 日 に MS‑DOS / Windows 3.1 用として発売したシリーズ第 6 作で、その後 Mac や FM‑Towns にも移植された。ロバータ・ウィリアムズ と ジェーン・ジェンセン の共同制作で、映画的演出や分岐ルートを備え、シリーズ最高傑作とされる。
Sierra SCI1.1 を使用し。CD‑ROM 版ではフルボイス（アレクサンダー王子役：ロビー・ベンソン）を搭載。
ダヴェントリー王国の アレクサンダー王子 は、愛する カシーマ王女 を探しに「グリーンアイルズ諸島」へ航海する。しかし彼女は邪悪な大宰相 アブドゥル・アルハズレッド に幽閉され、王位簒奪の陰謀が進んでいた。プレイヤーは 5 つの島を巡り、仲間や道具を集め、アルハズレッドの陰謀を阻止する。選択肢により複数の結末が用意され、「長ルート」が最も充実した物語を見せる。
