『古代文明覇王伝』は宇峻科技が1998年に制作した戦略RPGです。ゲームは同社の以前の作品『超時空英雄伝説2外伝 北方密使』のゲームエンジンを使用し、正邪対立の二人の主人公と二つのストーリーラインを採用しています。
クラーハン大陸の東方にある宮国で、武官「ビャオ」は護国大将軍の軍事政策に不満を持ち、自ら辺境に遠征することを志願しますが、追跡されます。同時に、長い間封印されていた大魔王「ブレイク」が突然復活し、その行方は不明です。このような背景の中で物語が展開します。プレイヤーは難易度の低い「ビャオ」を操作して大将軍と戦い、大将軍の真の姿を暴くことができます。また、難易度の高い魔神「ブレイク」として大陸を征服し、自身の本当のアイデンティティを発見することも可能です。
このゲームは、同ジャンルの作品の中でも珍しい正邪対立の二人の主人公と二つのストーリーラインを採用しているだけでなく、転職システムを強化し、すべての職業を東西の二大系別に分類し、それぞれ異なる転職方向を持たせ、モンスター系独自の転職システムも追加しています。
