阿猫阿狗是一款带点现代童话味道的国产卡通 RPG：主角乐乐离开家乡木桶镇多年后回到小镇，却发现熟悉的日常被一种“说不上来的不对劲”笼罩着——街坊的气氛变了，小镇的秩序也像被什么力量悄悄搅动。乐乐拥有能与动物沟通的能力，于是他一边走访镇上的角落、结识性格各异的伙伴，一边把原本各自为阵的动物朋友们团结起来，去处理一连串越来越离奇的事件。你会在轻松搞笑与温柔日常之间，逐渐感到“事情没有表面那么简单”，而木桶镇的麻烦背后似乎牵扯着更大、更现实的阴影——但故事会把答案留给你自己去推进与发现。
以队伍战斗为主，除了人类伙伴，动物也会加入战局；战斗并非传统回合制，而更偏“看速度行动的即时制”节奏，整体呈现强调轻松、不走血腥路线。
另外，本作很有特色的一点是**研发/组合（合成）**思路：不少装备与道具更像是你“动手做出来”的——战斗与探索会推动你解锁与组合出更实用的东西。
