阿貓阿狗把舞台放在小鎮「木桶鎮」，用可愛的卡通筆觸講一個“回到故鄉、重新認識身邊一切”的故事：少年樂樂闊別多年返鄉，卻察覺鎮上瀰漫著不尋常的氛圍。你會跟著他用能和動物溝通的能力，去串起鎮民與動物朋友的線索：有些像日常小插曲，有些卻讓人隱約感到背後另有推手。遊戲的魅力在於它不急著把你推進大場面，而是用一段段冒險、笑點與溫柔的互動，把“木桶鎮究竟發生了什麼”慢慢堆疊起來。
隊伍制戰鬥，動物也能上場；戰鬥節奏偏即時制（與角色速度相關），風格主打輕鬆、不血腥。
同時還有**研發/組合（合成）**系統，把素材與點子變成實用裝備與道具，玩起來很有“土法煉鋼”的趣味。
