El juego "Romance of the Three Kingdoms 5" se lanzó a finales de 1995. La alta resolución compatible con 800 × 600 y la exquisita representación de los retratos de los personajes hacen que sea difícil poner demasiadas pegas al apartado artístico del juego. La nueva "animación de eventos históricos" muestra los audaces intentos de Koei en la era multimedia de los videojuegos y también hace que esta obra de tema serio resulte más accesible.
Sin embargo, la mayor mejora técnica de esta entrega está en realidad en la música y los efectos de sonido.
