SimCity 2000 est un jeu vidéo de simulation de construction de ville codéveloppé par Will Wright et Fred Haslam de Maxis.
SimCity 2000 se joue en perspective isométrique, contrairement au titre précédent, qui se jouait en vue de dessus. L'objectif du jeu est de créer une ville, de développer des zones résidentielles et industrielles, de construire des infrastructures et de percevoir des impôts pour poursuivre le développement de la ville. L'accent est mis sur l'augmentation du niveau de vie de la population, le maintien d'un équilibre entre les différents secteurs et la surveillance de la situation environnementale de la région afin d'empêcher la colonie de décliner et de faire faillite, car un déficit extrême entraîne la fin de la partie.
SimCity 2000 a été salué par la critique pour ses graphismes vibrants et détaillés, son menu de contrôle amélioré, son gameplay et sa musique. Environ 4,23 millions d'exemplaires de SimCity 2000 ont été vendus, principalement aux États-Unis, en Europe et au Japon.
