「ときめきメモリアル」は、コナミが展開するデートシミュレーションシリーズです。主に8作品のメインゲームと多くの派生製品から成り立っています。これらのゲームは、デートシミュレーションジャンルの中でも高度な非線形性で知られています。
「ときめきメモリアル」のゲームプレイは、時間を管理し、デートを重ね、キャラクターの能力を学校やスポーツの面で育成することに重点を置いています（長期的な目標は、内面的な価値ではなく、より魅力的になることです）。デートは頻繁に行われますが、通常は短時間で、選択肢のある質問を通じてパートナーとの愛情指数を増加させるか減少させるかを決定します。一度のプレイは3年間の高校生活を固定時間内で行い（約5～10時間のゲーム時間）、最後に愛情指数が最も高いキャラクターが告白します。
