「インターステート '76」は、車両戦闘をテーマにしたビデオゲームです。
ゲームは、1976年の代替歴史の南西アメリカ合衆国で始まります。この世界では、1973年の石油危機が解決されることなく、腐敗した警察が無力で、暴動が横行し、地域は無法状態に陥っています。秩序を保つために、一部の市民は自らの車両に装甲と武器を装備し、私刑に走ることになります。そんな中、暴漢的な活動を行っていたジャド・チャンピオンが廃車置き場で殺されているのが発見されます。
不正を疑い、復讐を求める暴漢、タウラスは、ジャドの兄であるグルーブを仲間に引き入れ、調査を始めることにします。最初は躊躇していたグルーブですが、彼は才能あるドライバーであり、優れた戦士であることが証明され、戦闘に必要なスキルを迅速に習得していきます。
