本作是《羅德斯島戰記～灰色魔女～》的續作。故事改編自小說第2至7卷，但小妮絲並未登場，其角色由迪德莉特擔任。最終任務新增了小說中沒有的「降臨的邪神卡迪斯之戰」。NPC 現在最多可有兩人加入隊伍。戰鬥系統改為即使在野外也使用戰略戰鬥，操作性相比《I》有顯著提升。此外，還有「高速戰鬥」選項，可以快速完成自動戰鬥，但會大幅消耗生命值（LP）與魔力值（MP），且僅能獲得 10% 的經驗值。武器能力經過調整，並新增如騎馬衝鋒等全新設計。角色還可獲得如「自由騎士」等稱號。
可讀取前作《羅德斯島戰記～灰色魔女～》的創建角色資料，但無法作為玩家角色使用，而是在某個事件中，這些角色會成為 NPC 的隊伍並被擊敗。在 Windows 95 版中，故事內容進一步改編為貼近小說，並新增了伍德卡拉與蕾莉亞的事件。
