Play

Monopoly (the 1999 Artech Studios version) is a digital adaptation of the classic property-trading board game, designed to bring the tabletop experience to Windows and Macintosh with a more animated and customizable presentation. The game keeps the familiar core rules of buying properties, collecting rent, building houses and hotels, and driving opponents into bankruptcy, but adds computer-specific features such as animated 3D tokens, voiced playing pieces, and Mr. Monopoly as a voiced host. It also offers more variety than a straightforward board-game conversion: players can use the classic board, try a themed city board, adjust house rules such as Free Parking jackpots or jail settings, and even create a custom board with their own names and pictures. Because of that, this version is remembered less as a simple digital copy and more as a lively late-1990s PC interpretation of Monopoly with strong presentation and customization options.
