Record of Lodoss War: The Grey Witch(ロードス島戦記 灰色の魔女) is a RPG game based on original novel.
The story is based on the first volume of the novel, but it is based half on the magazine serialization and half on the first volume of the novel under D&D rules, and King Kashu does not appear. The battle system is quick combat in the field, where the troops are simply divided into front and back rows, and tactical combat in the dungeons, where the players move around the squares like in a simulation RPG. The rise and fall of the country changes depending on whether an event is held or not, and the scales displayed on the situation screen tilt. Depending on the tilt, there are two endings: Law Ending and Chaos Ending.
As in "II," there is a class called Wizard who can use all ancient language magic, spirit magic, and sacred magic. However, while the game can be cleared at around level 13, Wizards can learn all magic at level 40 or above.
Windows version game's data, system, graphics, etc. have been changed to be the same as "II". NPCs in events join the party like in "II". The graphics of the created characters are also one of the two types available in "II", and some of the unique graphics from "I" have been lost. The two endings have also been changed to one type and the content is based on the novel. The sound source has become MIDI, and operation now requires the use of a mouse.
