Moral, Truppentypen, Zeitverlauf und sogar Wetter können Kämpfe beeinflussen, wodurch sich jede Kampagne dynamischer anfühlt. Bekannt wurde es außerdem durch Funktionen wie die Erstellung eigener Offiziere sowie historische und fiktive Spielstile, die dazu beitrugen, es zu einem der einprägsamsten frühen "Drei Reiche"-Strategiespiele zu machen.
